Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), has collected Sh. 12 billion from traders who evade taxes and given 14 days by President Dr. John Magufuli pay those taxes.

"We will try in every way to educate our citizens to understand their role and importance in paying taxes and not avoidance, we also call upon citizens wherever they go whether in the private sector, or government requesting receipts for purchases so we can control the loss," said Data.
Data added that such authority exists for serving citizens and demanded that if there is any problem regarding tax matters, reporting on relevant existing offices in all regions.
He said in case of any inconvenience to citizens fail to be treated accordingly, a citizen is able to provide timely information on the website of the Office for www.tra.go.tz undertaken.
In addition the data said they will react to all those who have not yet paid and who do not pay taxes, to take them to court for defying lawful to pay taxes according to law.
